Hi, I'm Kayla
Taking the first step towards therapy can be tough, but finding the right therapist can make a huge difference. Thanks for taking the time to learn more about me!
Education
As a graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, and minors in both health promotion and gender studies from Michigan State University, I am equipped with the knowledge to understand your unique needs. I also hold a Master of Social Work degree, with a concentration in interpersonal practice, from the University of Michigan.
With a background in social work and psychology, I bring a unique perspective to each session I hold with my clients, where my goal is to help them find the necessary tools to overcome any obstacle that comes their way, allowing them to move forward with more confidence.
My Experience
Throughout my career, I have had the privilege to work with children and adults who have struggled with a range of mental health concerns in a variety of settings. My experience working with trauma, sexual, emotional, and physical abuse, domestic violence, divorce, child issues, anxiety and Women’s issues has made me knowledgeable and equipped to deal with any mental health concern.
I understand the significance of providing clients with a supportive space where they can process their emotions. For children, I utilize a combination of engaging activities and creative outlets to help them develop coping strategies that will serve them well throughout their lives. My primary goal is to equip clients with the tools they need to navigate complex emotions and feel empowered to take control of their mental health journey.
More about my therapeutic style...
I believe that everyone has the potential for growth and change. By taking a strengths-based approach and focusing on the whole person, I help my clients identify and cultivate their unique strengths and values. My therapeutic practice incorporates a variety of research-based techniques, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, psychodynamic approaches, mindfulness, and creative expression. I also prioritize exploring the importance of attachment within relationships and how we can develop healthy attachments to improve our overall well-being.
I am dedicated to creating a safe, supportive space where clients can feel comfortable to openly express themselves and share their experiences. I am committed to collaborating with my clients in a way that honors their unique perspectives, values and aspirations and my goal is to help my clients achieve their desired outcomes and develop a deeper sense of self-awareness, self-compassion and resilience.
I look forward to walking beside you in your journey!
