Hello!
My name is Joseph Arocho and I am a graduate of Wayne State University with my Masters in Social Work. I completed my undergraduate degree at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor studying Psychology through the Literature, Science and the Arts program. My passion has always been serving adolescents, adults and their families to help better create opportunities for their futures.
I have spent the past eight years working with adolescents and students in various capacities such as a school social worker in Pontiac, Oak Park and Birmingham, Michigan, an outpatient therapist for children with developmental disabilities in Detroit as well as other settings working with adolescents and their families. I have also worked as a program director for two different community mental health organizations in Wayne and Macomb County.
My passion to promote success with all populations requires an ability to empower and analyze the steps needed to reach their goals. This passion drove me to pursue a career as a social worker to work with individuals in an all settings. As a social worker I employ empowerment theory to aid individuals in self-determination. This promotes people to learn to think for themselves, determine their own path and to think more critically about their own life goals. As a social worker, I strive to provide opportunities for all individuals to succeed and understand that mental health is a major factor. I believe that individuals willing to let themselves be vulnerable allows for growth in their own personal future.
I hope that we can work together to create the change you want to see in yourself!
