I am happy you're here!
Whether you’re seeking help to work through grief and loss, life transitions, stress, or a more specific diagnosis, I would love to chat and see if I am a good fit for you or your child. I am currently accepting youth and adult clients for in person or telehealth sessions for clients starting at five years old.
My Therapeutic Approach
Navigating your own and your child’s mental health can be overwhelming and confusing. You may ask yourself “why is my child acting this way” or “how can I help my child through X?” This is where I come in. The parent-child relationship is so important to child development and wellbeing. I aim to give each child tools and coping skills to communicate and express emotions in a healthy way so the parent and child can work as a team to navigate life changes together. I utilize a combination of the strengths-based approach, psychoeducation, and play therapy.
In addition to working with children, I also enjoy working with adults! When working with adults, I utilize a combination of the strengths-based and person centered-approach because I believe you are the expert in your experience. My role is to listen, provide tools and insight, and come alongside you as you make steps towards your goals. Clients tell me I have a warm and comforting presence which is what I hope to provide in each session.
Education and Experience
After receiving a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) with a minor in psychology, I turned my eyes to graduate school. I graduated from Spring Arbor University with a Master of Social Work (MSW) and received a limited license in the state of Michigan (LLMSW). I also have a certification in Violence Prevention and Intervention. I have worked with children and teens professionally for several years and have volunteered my time with children for over 10 years.
Finding the right therapist is a daunting task, and you may feel the need to make the right decision. I encourage you to remember you can always change your mind. Often the hardest part is getting started – let’s get started together!
